An annual conference held each spring, which is the culmination of the Center’s programs. This one and a half day conference helps students develop leadership skills, builds their confidence, builds advocacy skills, ability to work in teams, exposes students to Latino case studies, UIC Latino faculty, clinicians, and community physicians. Leadership skills include a workshop and bio-terrorism exercise. Latino physicians serve as speakers and facilitate lectures. Local and nationally renowned Latino physicians volunteer as guest speakers for the annual conference. The conference helps participants understand their role as a resource in the development of a healthy Latino community.
